Build me a poem

When considering poetry, I don’t do flowery language,

I can’t listen to delivery by voice of doom or anguish,

Pretentiousness will always irritate

And supercilious pointless academe frustrate.

Build me a poem which may or may not rhyme

Using real life words about a real life like mine.

Build me a poem that will take me way beyond

My immediate boundaries, so my mind can abscond

From its usual duties and think instead of how the words

Convey their meaning; and when I’ve heard

And absorbed the hidden message

I’ll be in better shape to resume life’s tillage.
