I want to tell you about the little things
The late blackberries, the song the robin sings,
The cat that sipped from our pond today,
As I watched from my computer; the way
The clouds race with autumnal fury
Dispelling hail and wind and energy,
The dog on my pedalling foot as I play the piano
His wild birling as the fiddle reels around him. Oh
How the last swallows last swoop and dive
As they head off to Africa! We’ve kept the world alive
For each other, in words and music and shared moments
And now, at our usual calling time, there is silence.
I’ll hear you in my heart, our dialogue will continue
But just now, I also want to say,
I miss you.
