The day we didn’t quite climb An Tealloch

Fiddle buddy

March 9, 2019March 29, 2019
Written by Jo Hansen

Playing reels outside the caravan

Pitched in the deserted dunes of the Hebridean island:

Playing to the wind,

And the sun

And the tumbling sea,

My rhythm hiccuped

As a chaffinch alighted

On the fiddle’s scroll.

For a demisemiquaver’s breath

We stared eye to eye

Before he flew on.
